Buyan Li was born in 1991 in Beijing, China.

In 2008, he discovered his passion for music.

To further develop his skills, he began his bachelor’s studies in 2009 with Professor Shumei Huang at Beijing Union University. After completing his undergraduate degree, he decided to continue his musical education in Germany. In 2014, he began his master’s studies in vocal performance with Professor Rudolf Piernay, and from 2017 onward he pursued a degree in opera/concert performance (Konzertexamen) with Professor Timothy Sharp at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts.

He is a prizewinner of the 14th International Vocal Competition Gabriela Beňačková. Additionally, he was awarded scholarships by the Richard Wagner Foundation (2018) and the Live Music Now Foundation (2018), and participated in the 1st International Opera Workshop Waiblingen (2019). He has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Stuttgart Philharmonic and the Baden-Baden Philharmonic.

Since the 2023/24 season, Buyan Li has been a member of the ensemble at the Gerhart Hauptmann Theater Görlitz-Zittau, where he regularly appears on the opera and concert stage.
